This is an interactive event aimed at post-SATS student groups, aged 10-11. They and their teachers can take part in a morning of fun, interactive workshops and talks. Hosted at Renishaw’s start-of-the-art global headquarters and with activities run by major players including Schlumberger, Delphi, Renishaw, UWE and Engineering UK, it never fails to be an eye-opener!
Everyone – teachers included! – works in teams to solve a variety of engineering challenges including:
•How to safely land a cargo of humanitarian aid from an aircraft hovering at altitude
•Building the tallest tower from spaghetti lengths and mini marshmallows
•Building a wind turbine to generate enough power to light an LED or even charge a mobile phone
•Messing around with electronic motors and magnets
This is guaranteed to be great fun for everyone and attendees will leave with information about training, qualifications, apprenticeships and the knowledge that science and engineering are very much alive and well.
